SUP Business, Safety & Techniques..

How do you Train your Instructors?

Training your instructors, guides and staff will reflect the professionalism of your business or recreational center.

There's too many shops and organizations not properly training their staff thus putting their customers at risk.

Some businesses have employee manuals to help train their guides on their teaching methods, routes, rescue methods and customer service practices.

Additional training and certifications include Wilderness First Aid, Lifeguard Training, Interpretative Training and other SUP certifications.

How do you train your staff?  Share on last week's thread on the PSUPA member Facebook page, a member benefit.

What do you Have in your Instructor First Aid Kit?

Carrying a first-aid kit is an essential item for any instructor on the water.  And knowing how to use and/or apply each of the items in the kit.

You can carry your kit in a Seattle Sports Co (PSUPA discount) deck-bag on your board or bring a minimalist kit in a zip-lock or small dry bag in you vest or Co2 PFD.

Bring a dry bag for student prescriptions such as an Epi-Pen, inhaler or other required items.

NRS has a series of paddler's first-aid kits that has some great items included.

Smart Items to Carry:
- Headlamp
- Cake icing for diabetics
- Energy bars and electrolytes
- Chemical heat warmers
- Repair gear - foil tape, leash string, knife.

Share you kit contents on our member Facebook page.
