Welcome Professional Stand Up Paddle
Association's News letter!

Above Photo: Huge shout out to Robert Stehlik and Jennifer J. Lee.  Two amazing athletes (& PSUPA Instructors) who not only completed the 32 mile crossing from Molokai to Oahu, but managed to both find themselves a spot on the podium.

Back in 1986 I ran and finished the Honolulu Marathon (my first and last).  Jenn and Robert each went 6 miles further than I did, along with contending with much more extreme and challenging conditions/circumstances.  AND… both of them beat my finish time.

Congratulations you two!  Way to represent, your business, the industry & PSUPA!!!!

What's SUP?

                       DOMS Research

One of our newer members Robert Wood is an avid paddler in the U.K. and in his spare time is a chartered physiotherapist who has spent several years working in Long Term Athlete Development programs and developing training strategies.

He has recently began doing research on Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) and SUP.  He would be grateful for your feedback and support.

Simply color in the areas that you are feeling pain (a day or 2 after a hard paddle and shoot it over to him

WHO'S NEXT?!?!

Muchos Gracias! to Rob Casey for introducing me to the Teacup stretch last year.  I am totally convinced that doing this quick stretching exercise before a paddle has saved my shoulders.

There are a bunch of demos on how to do it on youtube,  here is one I like, as it turns the exercise from just a shoulder warmup to a full body warmup….  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IWE9fi9tJ8

And….. When you do it on the beach you really get the people passing by wondering what the heck you are doing.

Who's going to the Gorge?

Please let us know if you are competing or just there to hang out.

We would love to meet up.  We have Whistles & Stickers to give out.

***  Please teach safety & safely  ***

Please wear your PFDs and leashes.

There have already been 3 SUP fatalities just in the state of Washington this season that could have all been avoided.

A friend of ours here in Mexico loaned out one of his boards to someone who wanted to snorkel on the reef.  He didn’t wear a leash and it only took a couple minutes before $1000.00 drifted away and then he had a really long swim back to the beach.

If you don't have enough to go around, check out the PSUPA Pro Deals page for discounts from your favorite suppliers.
